Parkinson’s NSW Members Elect New Board

Members of Parkinson’s NSW elected a new, skills-based Board of six Directors on 24 October 2018. The new appointees will serve three-year terms.

Both past Directors and new candidates were eligible for the election which was managed by an independent outside service provider – the Australian Election Company.

Past Directors re-elected to the Board are David Veness, Jaimee Thompson, Rodney Chaplin, and Ramy Soussou. First-time Directors are Stephen Schiemer and Edward Shepherd.

Two of the newly-elected Board members are living with Parkinson’s and another is a carer for an immediate family member with Parkinson’s.

The Board election followed the 2017 change of Parkinsons NSW from an Incorporated Association (Parkinson’s NSW Inc) to a Company Limited by Guarantee (Parkinson’s NSW Ltd).

Consequently, a new Constitution was adopted for the organisation which required a spill of the existing Board and an open election to be held for all seats on the Board.

Short biographies of all Directors on the new Board can be viewed on the Board and Executive page of the website
